Originally the Royal Terrace consisted of four elegant town houses taking nearly fifty years to complete due to the economic depression of the era. Today the Royal Terrace consists of 6 original Georgian town houses, numbers 16-22 The houses were original homes for many famous individuals including David Louis Stevenson, the uncle of Robert Louis Stevenson, John Crabbie, famous for Ginger Wine, Charles Piazzi Smith, the Astronomer Royal of Scotland during 1870 who also became famous for being the first person to take photographs of the inside of the Pyramids!
